Descent of the Holy Spirit

This window in the apse of Our Lady and the English Martyrs (OLEM) church in Cambridge depicts the descent of the Holy Spirit in the form of tongues of fire upon the Blessed Virgin Mary and the apostles. Together, they represent the Church, with whom God's Spirit dwells. Today, 31 May 2009, is Pentecost Sunday, when the Church commemorates the Descent of the Holy Spirit on the apostles, giving her new life and power to proclaim the Gospel of the risen Lord.
